It does not appear to be a bad book. However, too much time is spent discussing the ingredients and not enough space is devoted to recipes. Certainly some discussion of raw ingredients is useful, but fully 1/3 of the book is devoted to it. If that's what you want, this is the book for you. There are other books covering Hawaiian recipes that are better choices if your emphasis is recipes.

I purchased this book for a gift, the person I bought it for loved it, she had just moved to Hawaii and wanted a cook book for the foods of the Islands, she told me she has used it a lot and loves all the information and recipes in this beautiful book.

I am in absolute love with all of Roy's cookbooks. I bought this one after having owned the newest one already. I love the difficulty and time consuming recipes, it makes my cooking obsession fun and challenging! If you enjoy Hawaiian Asian fusion and really enjoy cooking you will love these books!

A fun and skilled chef, I take his books to Hawaii with me when we go.

Good pictures, like being right in their restaurant. Would order more of their cookbooks as long as its illustrated as well.

I am a fan of Roy's and wish I could eat in every Roy's! It is a good cookbook and the dishes can be cooked!

Good book

Book is really a disapointment. It seems to suffer from being a companion book to a TV program and so does not stand up as a cookbook on it's own right. I buy cookbooks for inspiration and ongoing learning but don't care for watching TV Chefs. Chef Yamaguchi it seems is a very creative cook ,but if you are going to try to sell books for $32.50 it needs more stuffing. I want to know more about how he thinks and were his insparation comes from. I feel that bought Sam Choy and Alan Wong offer more of this to my understanding. I would have also liked to have the English names listed in the recipes. I spent a lot of time looking in the Pantry section to find out what the differant ingredants were.

I really enjoyed this book. The illustrations are amazing, and basically a word for word visual tour through the book of revelations.I've read complaints here about this containing demonic imagery... dude.... it's the book of revelations. It's about the devil and the antichrist. Of course there's going to be dark images.I read a complaint that Jesus was depicted as a lamb looking creature... well.... that's how John describes him in the book of revelations.Revelations itself has lots of symbolism and imagery, and this book basically recreate those images faithfully to their description.I didn't find it offensive at all, and found that the images actually helped put certain things in perspective.As a side note, I really enjoyed that they used the original Greek image for '666' as seen in the codex vaticanus.Very talented illustrator, and very well done book.Highly recommended.

I purchased this as a book for my son who honestly just wasn't in to picking up his bible much. After receiving this I thumbed through this and was really blown away at how the material comes to life off the page so vividly. I am not ashamed to say I read it several times and it helped me in visualizing the text of the last book of the bible.Needless to say after holding onto this gem for a while it was gifted to a good friend at church and he too was blown away and amazed by it. Great book for anyone of any age looking to not only learn Gods word but to be visually engaged.

This book is amazing. I’m writing this review here because the seller ThriftBooks is a scam. I paid close to the cost of a new book ($12.97) for what is seen in the pictures. The book itself has some great illustration and a great book to own. The seller Thriftbooks listed this copy as “good”! The cover doesn’t even lay flat! If you’re looking at buying a copy from ThriftBooks, don’t. The listing was falsely advertised as only being “creased by reading”. If you’re wondering if you should own this book, definitely! It’s hard to find so I guess this terribly treated used copy will do. I would have been less disappointed if it was listed as “fair” or “used”.

The Book of RevelationI have read the last chapter of the Bible several times, a few of those times was late at night unto the early morning. I have read it from the beginning to the end and what I imagined in my mind is exactly what was put forth in this graphic novel, what a great depiction of the text it was.While immersed in this novel and "great soon to be reality" I felt like I was the eyes of John and as always... I could not put this chapter of the Bible down. The images were dark and very graphic and just as they should be for one of the greatest stories ever told. I enjoyed all of the images in this novel but one of my favorites would have to be on page 169 where one of the seven Angels took John in the spirit to a soaring steep mountain and showed him the Holy City, Jerusalem, descending from God out of heaven, embodying the glory of God. What a magnificent site it was.I would also agree 100% with Matt's Dorff's interview comment with Zondervan publishing "When readers see that last panel with John's final "Amen" I think they'll experience a sense of emotional fullness. For all the action and intensity and horror it contains, The Book of Revelation is in the end a profoundly emotional story." I say amen to that!The translation of the Bible in this novel was smooth and very easy to read and understand. The illustrations and adaption that was put fourth I believe was magnificent! I don't dig how they portray Jesus as an actual lamb. The front cover - I thought it was a goat that represented Satan, not my Lord and Savior! The illustrations are awesome, though. It's laid out and illustrated just as the Word is, so if you're looking for these signs and symbols to be deeper or represent bigger truths, it's not here. I enjoyed reading it so much that I bought the Action Bible, which is similar - it's the Bible done in graphic-novel form for kids and teens... and adults! It's NOT what I would call "God's Word," as the focus of this particular Bible is to chronologically lay out the major events that happened since Genesis, but if you need an enthralling, easy to understand version of God's Word as history happened, it'll help.

A lot of people are scared of the book of Revelation, or at least hesitant to read it. Ironically, it is the only book of the bible that says you are blessed for reading it. (Revelation 1:3) The team that put this together did an amazing job. Absolutely stunning visuals with breathtaking colors is what this book is all about. Along with captions of select verses, it takes you through each chapter of Revelation (not Revelations), and further brings to life what John did so wonderfully already. I can't stress how beautiful this art is.

I have read other reviews for this book prior to buying it myself which complained that it's adaptation did not make the text easier to understand. I am not sure Revelation will ever be completely easy to understand. I've found it hard to read it in its entirety in any translation of the Bible. Being a comic book fan as well as minister in training seemed to make this book a dream come true. Granted this adaptation now adds pictures to the once confusing images your mind was stretched to make; where mental exhaustion once slowed or ceased your reading, these pictures keep you reading as well as may provide some continuity that's hard to visualize or detect in text format. If you're looking for a breakdown and deep explanation of Revelation, I suggest a good studied commentary or study-Bible (ESV Study Bible). But if you want to dive into Revelation with a thorough uninterrupted flow, this book may be a good place to start.

Book arrived perfect and in the time I was told.Read carefully, there is a lot of real good info.Well written for just about anybody to grasp.Now I understand how the zone valves workand was about to wire the system.Update: Feb 2013 This book let me wire a few boilers for me and friends. Take the time to read and even draw your own diagrams. An electrician wanted $400. to wire one boiler. With this book and some study, it was done and works fine.

This book is totally worthless if you are hoping to understand and design the control systems for radiant floor heating. I wish I could get my money back. The book description by the publisher and the Editorial Reviews are misleading at best. I wish there had been a buyer review at the time I placed my order with Amazon--I would have passed on this book. Avoid.

I am a complete novice when it comes to hydronic controls. Basically, I'm an owner-builder who decided to install radiant heat. Since I know nothing about setting it up, I rely on elementary books and materials from the internet to gain knowledge.Installing the PEX tubing in the slab was easy enough as was attaching the tubing to the underside of the second floor. I had intended to hire someone to finish the set-up but when finances became tight I decided to have a go at it.I'm not done yet but this book has given me confidence to continue on.

I think this book is an excellent read for anyone who knows little to nothing about heating controls. It's written in a way that can be easily understood by someone with no knowledge of technical language.

The "Reader's Edition" is a very nice set. The books include an introduction, notes, and plenty of reference material designed to encourage study. The layout is clean, uncluttered and appealing. In particular, Bonhoeffer's "Discipleship" is one of the most powerful and compelling books I have ever read. Bonhoeffer clearly explains the very simple call of Jesus--"Follow me.". It is a powerful exposition on truly embracing Christian living as opposed to the so-called "cheap grace" preached and practiced in most churches--"God, forgive me for the things I keep doing" as opposed to "God, give me the courage to truly follow you so that I may know you.". We follow Jesus to our own cross through faith and obedience. In doing so, we come to know the heart of God and free ourselves from the things which separate us from God and harm us spiritually. I would encourage anyone who has not read this book to pick it up, read it, and think about what it means. You will not regret the time you spend studying anything written by Bonhoeffer.

Content wise this is a five-star series--each book being important contributions to theology and Bonhoeffer studies.In "Ethics" and "Discipleship" you get a good picture of Bonhoeffer's dialectical theology working within each book and with each book being one part of a sort of dialectic...at least as I read Bonhoeffer. Bonhoeffer is known to be the last great Modern theologian, and perhaps a theologian who straddles the modern-postmodern transition. Must read. Also, this new critical edition is much more readable than the previous editions and I would only recommend this version to people.

Very pleased. The books are a great translation and when in doubt, the translator includes the German word.Bonhoeffer is a theological genius.

These books are great for just reading these 4 volumes. I also have the 17 volumes with all the notes, but this will be great to just read and make notes.

Wonderful and complete set. Almost all his works. Paper back. Came right on time. One of the most brilliant minds in theology.
