The oil painting illustrations are luscious to the eye and the story itself is poetically pleasant to the ear. This is truly a water dance. What an amazing dance through the water cycle. If you teach the water cycle, you need this book. The pictures are beautiful! The poem is spectacular and if you read it with Ravel's Jeux d'eau the juxtaposition is mind blowing!!!!

This was a perfect book for creating musical sketches in ORFF class last summer.

This was a perfect book to add poetry and beauty to a science unit on land and water for fifth graders. The pictures were gorgeous and the wording took information and made it into poetry. There was also additional scientific information at the end of the book. The book itself was in very good condition even though used. It made a very beautiful and economical addition to the classroom library, and arrived quickly after ordered.

A big fan of Thomas Locker books, and this book is as lovely as the others. Gorgeous art, good writing. Grows with child; as interesting to young toddlers as well as older children. A pleasure for adults to read, which is a bonus for those of us who read lots of books to little ones.

What a joy to read Sam Dunn's wonderful memoir FAITH IN CARLOS GOMEZ!!! The book arrived from Amazon on Saturday and by Saturday evening, my wife had devoured it cover to cover and by the end of the day on Monday, I'd enjoyed every twist, twirl and turn of Sam's adventure. I couldn't put it down!I really enjoyed the clever way she wove so many elements from her life into the storyline of becoming totally caught up in the Latin culture and salsa dance scene. Great fun to read!Needless to say, I love the way Sam Dunn writes. I've read her other two books, FAILING PARIS and NOT BY ACCIDENT and after reading this one, all I can say is her stuff gets better and better.

Sequel to "Not by Accident." Samantha Dunn is a brilliant writer. Valuable life lessons and lots of humor...some sadness that is overwhelming at times but important to live through. I highly recommend Ms. Dunn's books.

I am a non reader for the most part, but I read this book in two days; I was sorry when it ended. Taking a few Salsa lessons in the Los Angeles area, I attended a Salsa "practice" party where class members practice their newly acquired skills in a less threatening environment. Here is where I met Ms. Dunn. She was so good on the dance floor I wondered who she was. A co-Salsera told me about the book. I, like Samantha never danced - just wasn't interested. Until Salsa. My heart races whenever I even think Salsa, and this book was right on target. I totally enjoyed this writing and suggest than anyone interested in Salsa, Sex, and Salvation pick it up!

Great book especially if you like salsa!

This is a great memoir I had read before but keep losing copies to "friends." My advice: if you share it, expect to need your own copy soon as everyone else seems to want to share it too!!

Hilarious quick read especially for those just starting salsa

Samantha Dunn is addicting. The voluptuous, red-headed journalist --- labeled a combination of Sophia Loren and Dale Evans --- from the sagebrush of the Southwest writes what may be described as the "country" alternative to Candace Bushnell's SEX AND THE CITY. Yet there is a rich, genuine leather to Dunn's narrative that propels and inspires. Dunn has been alluring from her first book, the novel FAILING PARIS, to her first memoir, NOT BY ACCIDENT, when she hilariously and bravely chronicled her recovery from a near-fatal horse-riding accident.This third offering, FAITH IN CARLOS GOMEZ, takes up where NOT BY ACCIDENT left off. I got this for my young daughter and she loves the illustrations and bizzare (to Westerners) tales of Ganesh, one of my favorite Hindu deities. The shipping can take some time as the book is printed in and mailed from India, but patience is a good quality for any spiritual path. It is written for a believing audience but can be enjoyed by all. At almost five years old my daughter is a bit young for many of these tales, but will hopefully read them by herself in a few years.

Unlike some other cookbooks, this one calls for normal ingredients which can be bought locally and this is one of the deciding factors when you love in a small country town.

Much of what Ms. Wright teaches, in such concise and unambiguous language, has been expanded and complicated by others today and over the years. Still, some of the finer points shared are here only. Her putting technique, with a break in the wrists, has been replaced as the greens improved and the speed greatly amplified. Otherwise you can build a game with this fine book alone. She is and was greatly admired as a golfer and as a person and surely as a communicator and story teller as this tidy instruction piece demonstrates. Oh what golf could do today with another unassuming and brilliant Mickey Wright.

The reason this book receives a high rating is not only was she a great player and had an outstanding swing she knew it so well she can explain in her words why it worked so well. Mr. Ben Hogan was quoted as saying Mickey Wright was the BEST golf swing he ever saw. Just looking at the pictures you can clearly see why he proclaimed it so.

Finally, a woman’s perspective on golf! This is generally an uncomplicated, step by step method. Good for beginners and others who need reminders of the basics.

One of the best golf swing books I have ever read and I own a bunch of these books, I wish there is a kindle version of this. The book has great illustrations and really helpful. It helped me a lot and I was able to shave some strokes off my game. I figured out the reason for my long problem of slicing, especially with longer irons. You do not have to slice as a right hander, this book can be very helpful in eliminating that slice problems.

It's not complicated, it's a simply golf swing , the book reminds me of the saying " keep it simple stupid". She doesn't tell you how to fix this or that , Mickey shows and tells you how to swing the wright way , just a one piece slow ,low ,wide swing back and a powerful motion forward . I loved the book and after reading I find myself standing taller over the ball and swinging harder with great results , I loved reading about her time on tour , but my main interest was the golf swing and nobody has a smoother swing than Mickey .

Truth...I don't like the blurb and the references to Sleeping Beauty. Because there's nothing fairytale-ish about this story. It's not happy and bright. It's heavy with emotion. And I loved it.Brighton is the rich girl who wants to break free of her gilded cage. Madden is a tattoo artist who owns Madd Ink. In an attempt to rebel against her controlled life, Brighton decides to get some ink. She walks away with a tiny tattoo and a big crush on the mysterious, broody artist.Madden, sigh, I loved him. And I loved Brighton. Both characters come with baggage, but both are determined to fight expectations. They were so different yet exactly what they each needed. She was far from the spoiled rich kid. Surprisingly mature and kind, she was philanthropic and traveling a carefully crafted path in her life. But she was running on auto-pilot and wanted to live life—both the good and bad. A tragic life event from a decade before drove her parents to be extremely overprotective, pushing her to crave freedom and independence with conviction. I loved seeing Madden's walls slowly breaking down, without him even realizing it. He had depth, a good heart, and battled a bad hand in life with more strength and grace than what would be expected.The writing is beautiful and the storytelling both engaging and emotional. There are a few twists you see coming, but it still quickens your pulse when they're revealed. Thankfully, this is not an insta-love story, and I loved seeing how the relationship evolved from a tentative attraction to so much more. The author heartbreakingly wove together their backstories and gave them a chance to go their separate ways, but I loved how real their lingering love for each other felt, even when things were thrown in and tested their resolve.The secondary cast was strong and well-rounded (I truly hated Brighton's father and loved Madd's sister), and each played their role in driving the story forward and giving you insight into the main character's personalities. I felt the ending was a tiny bit rushed and resolved super-quick considering the span of time that had passed and the mountain of issues they had to overcome (that was a lot to drop in a single conversation). But after reading that epilogue, I didn't care and it more than made up for it. I still had a few questions, but the epilogue was absolutely beautiful and had me smiling and wishing for more. Definitely worth a read.

"Can they really walk away from each other? Pricked is a story of two people from different backgrounds and upbringing. Will their relationship stand the test of time and circumstances?An eloquent writer that she is, Ms. Renshaw once again floored me with this book. It was flawlessly written. The main characters are well thought of and vividly developed. The twist that I didn't see coming, it was very well executed! It just wowed me when I reach that part of the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this one from beginning to end. The story of Madden and Brighton just blew me away. By far, this is my favorite book by this author. I highly recommend this book! I loved it so much!

I loved the premise of Pricked, the intrigue, the secrets, the rich girl/poor boy aesthetic. Pricked was different than I expected. I was sure it was going to be a bad boy alpha romance, but it was so much more than that. Madden was better than I could have anticipated. He was fascinating – and not because he was a reformed bad boy – in a way that tugged at my heart and made me feel a kinship with him. Once I learned his secrets, I understood a good portion of the reason why.When I read the blurb and started this book, I was sure Pricked was going to be an opposites-attract novel. And it was, on the surface. Once we got to know Brighton and Madden more fully it was obvious, they were both very hurt – in different ways – and only showed the world the façade they’d built to protect themselves. They were both also looking for someone to love them, to give them a soft spot to land, and to show them their worth. Their hearts and souls were so similar; it was no wonder they found each other and fell into such an easy relationship.The only thing I wish about Pricked was that the ending not be so rushed. I felt like we were going full-steam ahead and were going to get some real answers and closure, then BOOM, flash forward epilogue. Sure, everything was tied up in a neat little bow in the epilogue, but I would have loved to have seen how it all played out, rather than recapped. I know tons of readers are just in it for the love story, and that felt (mostly) complete to me, but there were a few other storylines that deserved better treatment than they got.

He thought that she was just your stereotypical rich girl...but what he found was so much more.Madden owns and runs his own tattoo and piercing parlor. He's quiet, broody and often rude. He has his circle, though small and his younger sister that he loves.Brighton has been sheltered most of her life. A horrible tragedy left her parents overprotective. They controlled what she wore, where she went and what she was going to do for the rest of her life. However, she was done with the control. She wanted to choose her own path. Make her own decisions. Her first foray into independence was getting a tattoo at Madden's shop.The rich girl and the tattoo artist with a whole lot of twists. This story was sexy! Madden had his baggage, but so did Brighton. Their strength was in sharing their pasts and total honesty. Their path was complicated and a bit tragic. Fate can be twisted, but she always has a plan.

Amy Twiggs is a wife and a mother of four teenagers. She is a former elite gymnast and, in 1995, she was a member of the developmental National Women’s Gymnastics Team. She received a full-ride athletic scholarship for gymnastics from Stanford University where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a focus in Health & Development. This book is also a great guide for parents of gymnasts who want to better understand what their kids are going through.

My daughter is a gymnast and I found this book compelling. I felt like I was better able to understand the emotional pressure my daughter deals with and the courage she has to muster as a gymnast because of this book. The truly pleasant surprise was how many things I was able to apply to my own life as well! Amy outlines very specific tools anyone can use if they are trying to mentally conquer difficult things and navigate the mental roadblocks to high performance. I highly recommend this book.

We loved this book! Our daughter was a gymnast for several years and is now coaching gymnastics. She experienced some of the struggles that the author addresses. This is a great tool from someone with first hand experience to help any gymnast overcome the challenges that come with gymnastics and really any sport! You can apply the lessons taught to many areas of life to help overcome fear and the mental challenges that come with confidence, etc.

Fast read, but a book you will want to refer back to as you encounter any self doubt or anxiety as a gymnast. It is possible to know who you are and to get where you want to be in life. This book suggests visualization as one technique to get there, among others and how to do it.

This book has some great tools, not only for gymnasts, but for anyone who does any kind of performing. While I would have liked to see a few more examples of how to apply some of the principles (for example, the mind guard), the examples given and the review/workbook sections were well laid out. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to become "flippin' awesome" at whatever they do.
