I would highly recommend this book! Regardless if it's for rehab or just injury prevention - this book - and taping in general - is someting that I believe everyone should invest in. This book is written for anyone at any intelligence level to understand. It was recommended to me by a chiropractor who was just starting to introduce me to taping, and I am so glad tht I picked this book up. It really does an amazing job in restoring your power in restoring your body. For me, it was a great book that allowed me to manage some of my issues without being so dependent on my chiropractor. I don't know about you but I don't like paying $90 an office visit, twice a week. This book certainly doesn't remove my need to see a chiropractor but what it does do is it allows me to do my own taping at home which without a doubt has helped me. I love how simple this book was to understand. I do wish it had a little bit more color but if you're not going to use color, tihs book is as good as you can get. The format was easy to read and I truly enjoyed the step by step instructions it gives you. I get extremely anxious when I read things that don't have specifics and this book was AMAZINGLY detailed with its instructions. Take the time to read the basic terms and before you begin sections - it will make (or breaK) the experience of the rest of this book for you. As a newbie, I needed someone background info and this book did a great job of doing that. Definitely useful to help with some pains I've been having issues with. I do recommend though, that you use this book in conjunction with a massage therapist, chiropractor (this book came recommended from mine) etc.

This is an amazing book for those interested in beginning kinesiology taping and / or the benefits that it can provide. Before giving any specifics about taping, or mentioning tape at all, the author does a great job laying out the basics of movement, muscles, and anatomy. While this is not the focus of the book, these introductory sections are well-written and very helpful to anyone who is not an expert. Kim takes the same care and effort when getting to the taping itself, and helpfully lays out the general uses, benefits, and best buying practices of the tape itself. I love how she tells the reader how to use the tape before giving any 'recipes' on how to use it. This does not mean the specific taping practices are sub-par in any way. The taping sections are divided based upon body area (head, foot, etc.) and are clearly laid out, and the instructions are accompanied by detailed and helpful pictures. After trying some of the tapes out, especially in the lower back area, I was feeling better, and generally had less fatigue in those areas. Recommended for those looking to get into taping, but who don't need an exorbitant amount of information.

This is a great how-to book for learning Kinesiology taping. Remember seeing taping on the athletes in the olympics. This book explains what kinesiology taping is and why it is used. Taping can be used on any part of the body for anything from nasal congestion to strains, pains, cramps or injuries. Taping is used as a temporary treatment. This book advises that if taping yourself, be sure to work with a professional rehabilitation therapist first. Taping is meant to enhance the work of your therapist, not to replace actual hand on with your therapist. Basic terms used in the taping process are explained at length. Pictures and illustrations are easy to understand and follow. If experiencing chronic pain such as arthritis, plantar fasciitis, or tendonitis, taping may be a benefit for you. Talk with your therapist or chiropractor.

I have used this book to tape my knee and it helped! I happened to lunge/squat more than I normally do and the taped helped my right knee pain go away. I also taped my left hand thumb joint/thumb and that helped too. I use an ipad at work to type and it was hurting. I also got a blue tooth keyboard and tape myself and what a difference. I found the book easy to follow and easy for me to understand to take myself prn(as needed). I recommend this book whether you work in the medical profession or not. It helped me a lot. I also feel more confident about taping me or other people.

So I am of a certain age where injuries occur but I don't want to give up Some of my favorite activities. I jammed my knee while running and was in crazy pain for weeks. Ice and elevation helped but when I tried to go back to even light exercise I felt pain and instability. KT tape was recommended. I watched videos online to help with application but this book is fantastic. I love the pics and helpful hints on how to wrap different areas are injury. This is a great resource. Thank you!

Good addition to my medical library - the most important thing I learned is that you need a partner to make the applications and that hair removal in the area is essential for the taping to work.

Such a tragedy is hard to fathom. Karen Spears Zacharias has done a wonderful job of making Karly come alive for the reader.This book packs a powerful punch.We all need to watch and listen more to the children we come in contact with. Heed the signs of abuse the author has listed.I don't think for one second that the mother could have been so completely ignorant of what was happening. Shame on her.I pray that David finds happiness and some sort of healing.I also realize the toll of putting this in writing must have taken on the author. I am a woman of strong faith...a mother, a grandmother, and just recently, a great grandmother.This is a hard book to read but I take comfort in knowing that Karly will never be hurt again.God bless the child.

I worked in human services with adolescent teens who suffered with emotional and behavior disorders. Many of them suffered abuse in their own homes be it physical, sexual and mental, they were broken from within. Karen I view you not only as strong and courageous but as a woman with heart, BIG HEART. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for getting the truth of what happened to this little angel. "....Shawn Field tortured Karly because he is a sick bully." My sentiments exactly. But he did show the world just how powerful a 3 yr old girl can be, enough to put a grown male idiot in prison for a very very long time. His life is...over. As it should be.But...since Karly lived with both her mother and father, I blame them both too. That Sarah was neglectful is an understatement. Her negligence led directly to Karly's murder and she should be in prison (or a nuthouse). She should have given Karly to David for good, like she gave away her other baby daughter for good.I don't believe that David belongs in prison but for God's sake why couldn't he rise to the occasion just ONCE and be the man he needed to be to protect his daughter? I think he was way too worried about himself being deported. I just got the impression that David was a weak quiet man that could have lived quite nicely with Karly's being bruised and bald for the rest of her life. (Which as it turns out he did.) Edit: I felt guilty for being so hard on David. I know he loved Karly very much. Her dying from the abuse probably never crossed his mind as being a real possibility. I'm sorry that David has to live without Karly and with so much pain.My heart is broken for Karly and the 3 year life she endured for nothing. And I am livid that no one really cared enough to do anything actually helpful or to take this cruel abuse seriously. My only consolation is that yes, Karly is now with Jesus, just as she needed and wanted to be. God did stop her torture, her pain, her suffering, and all her fear. I know she is resting in peace with her maker now and I look forward to meeting her some day and knowing her forever.This is a very well-written book that I can only recommend if you have lots of kleenex nearby. And a good understanding of death and resurrection will help you keep ahold of your hope.

This was a well written, documented and thoroughly investigated book. It's so sad to me that a mother seeing clear signs of abuse does nothing. I agree that Sarah deserves some kind of punishment for her indirect knowledge/involvement of Karly's death. I downloaded this book today and didn't put it down until I was finished. It only takes one person. I heard your interview on True Murder, with Dan Zupansky. Thank you for writing this book and making people more aware. I'm sorry this happened to you, that you had to be involved in this story but I'm glad, in a weird way it was you. Thank you Karen.Jody SLC,UT

I struggle with how to rate this book.This is a true story of a beautiful little girl, who was failed by so many people.The monster that killed her was sentenced, however, in my opinion, there were many other monsters, her Mother, etc. Who knew what was going on and did nothing.I forced myself to finish this book. It gave me nightmares. Although so many people were not held accountable for their part, someday, they will have to face God, and hopefully then they will be held accountable.

This was well written and researched. It is so very sad what this little girl suffered at the hands of such a monster. And how this mother did not help this little girl. How she turned a blind eye to the events leading up to the murder of this precious little girl. Now she moves on like it is a thing of the past . She also should have been charged with at the least... endangering the welfare of a child. But in order to get a conviction you have to make a deal to get the testimony of someone first hand to admit what they ignored. Such a sad order of events.
