Anastasia Tolstoy, a Junior Research Fellow at Wolfson College, University of Oxford, holds a doctorate from Oxford, where she completed a DPhil on Vladimir Nabokov and the Aesthetics of Disgust. Glancing down at my phone, over two hours had passed and I was only a few chapters away form having blasted through the entire book in one sitting.Not only that, but beside be was my notebook with a list at the top that said "Baker's Epic Quest." It was broken down by category with goals and tasks large and small scribbled down each column. On the opposite page was a list of allies I could recruit to help me with various "quests" and several changes I wanted to make to my "batcave" when I got home.To be honest, I expected Level Up Your Life to be good. But I did not expect the book ITSELF to be an adventure to read. It's chocked full of specific, tangible advice and tactics that you can apply right away - but the whole thing is wrapped in a blend of references to movies, books, and games from my childhood.There are no shortages of books with advice on how to tweak or improve your life. Some are good, others... not so much. But in my experience, very few of them have that magic factor that makes it FUN to start dreaming, applying, and changing your life.That's what Level Up Your Life does better than any book I've read in the last 4-5 years. It makes it FUN. I was swept away to a world where I was planning out my Epic Quest. Where I was outlining what "boss battles" I would need to overcome along the way. I imgained what it would be like if I could train my body to support my goals and not hold me back. I planned out my families next trip overseas.At the same time, I was aggressively scribbling down lists of steps. Writing down specific tweaks I wanted to make when I landed. I was doing more than dreaming, I was organizing exactly how I could get from where I was to where I wanted to be.It's no surprise I loved Steve's writing, I thought I would. But what did surprise me is how much I bought into the gamification system he's laid out for his own life. And it wasn't just his example, there were many other readers and Rebellion members he outlined who shared similar goals to me (including the dad who did martial arts with his son, something I do twice a week with my daughter as well).I feel like this book is a MUST read for anyone who recognizes they want to make to add more adventure and happiness into their life and are looking for a system that is not only effective in getting results, but is FUN and inspiring to get swept up into, as well.I de-boarded that plane flight not only with a huge smile on my face, but with a notebook full of tangible changes I could start making that very day.I'm pumped up to make 2016 an amazing year of adventure and positive change. This book is very similar to his blog that I already read (Nerd Fitness), but it was still helpful to read it all at once, rather than just 1-2 posts per week. If you already read the blog you might not gain much more knowledge, but it was still inspiring for me to read. I was also hoping for a specific plan rather than just vague, "go do it" recommendations, but I liked it overall.

Let's be clear up front: The concepts in this book are nothing new. The advice you'll find within is similar to the things you'll find in other self-development books, but that's exactly what most of us need. Most of don't need some revolutionary new hack to make us 5% more efficient. We need the simple tips for success that have ALWAYS been true. And maybe a little more important - we need to hear this wisdom in a way that resonates with us and gets us excited to pursue goals and put in the hard work that will get you to where you want to be. And that's exactly what Steve has done here. He's taken the timeless principles for living a thriving life and made them relate-able for those of us who grew up playing video games and idolizing superheroes. And the principles he espouses really are timeless. No 30-day fixes. No false promises of easy money, fame, and success.Put in a little bit of work every day towards your goal, even when you don't feel like it? Yeah, yeah, I already knew that. What an amazing dance through the water cycle. If you teach the water cycle, you need this book. The pictures are beautiful! The poem is spectacular and if you read it with Ravel's Jeux d'eau the juxtaposition is mind blowing!!!!

This was a perfect book to add poetry and beauty to a science unit on land and water for fifth graders. The pictures were gorgeous and the wording took information and made it into poetry. There was also additional scientific information at the end of the book. The book itself was in very good condition even though used. It made a very beautiful and economical addition to the classroom library, and arrived quickly after ordered.

A big fan of Thomas Locker books, and this book is as lovely as the others. Gorgeous art, good writing. Grows with child; as interesting to young toddlers as well as older children. A pleasure for adults to read, which is a bonus for those of us who read lots of books to little ones.

What a joy to read Sam Dunn's wonderful memoir FAITH IN CARLOS GOMEZ!!! The book arrived from Amazon on Saturday and by Saturday evening, my wife had devoured it cover to cover and by the end of the day on Monday, I'd enjoyed every twist, twirl and turn of Sam's adventure. I couldn't put it down!I really enjoyed the clever way she wove so many elements from her life into the storyline of becoming totally caught up in the Latin culture and salsa dance scene. Great fun to read!Needless to say, I love the way Sam Dunn writes. I've read her other two books, FAILING PARIS and NOT BY ACCIDENT and after reading this one, all I can say is her stuff gets better and better.

Sequel to "Not by Accident." Samantha Dunn is a brilliant writer. Valuable life lessons and lots of humor...some sadness that is overwhelming at times but important to live through. I highly recommend Ms. Dunn's books.

I am a non reader for the most part, but I read this book in two days; I was sorry when it ended. Taking a few Salsa lessons in the Los Angeles area, I attended a Salsa "practice" party where class members practice their newly acquired skills in a less threatening environment. Here is where I met Ms. Dunn. She was so good on the dance floor I wondered who she was. A co-Salsera told me about the book. I, like Samantha never danced - just wasn't interested. Until Salsa. My heart races whenever I even think Salsa, and this book was right on target. I totally enjoyed this writing and suggest than anyone interested in Salsa, Sex, and Salvation pick it up!

Great book especially if you like salsa!

This is a great memoir I had read before but keep losing copies to "friends." My advice: if you share it, expect to need your own copy soon as everyone else seems to want to share it too!!

Samantha Dunn is addicting. I got this for my young daughter and she loves the illustrations and bizzare (to Westerners) tales of Ganesh, one of my favorite Hindu deities. The shipping can take some time as the book is printed in and mailed from India, but patience is a good quality for any spiritual path. It is written for a believing audience but can be enjoyed by all. At almost five years old my daughter is a bit young for many of these tales, but will hopefully read them by herself in a few years.

This cookbook is clear and well-written. I love the ketogenic diet and save lots of recipes to go with it so it’s terrific to have all the recipes for the Keto lifestyle collected all together in one place. Looking through the cookbook I constantly want to choose a recipe I haven’t tried yet and make it ready for dinner or tomorrow’s breakfast. If I use at least seven recipes per week, this cookbook should keep me busy for seventy weeks or even more. That’s a wonderful deal for such a price! I’ve noticed that there are only a few special ingredients you’ll have to purchase in order to prepare the dishes you have picked and it’s a huge plus for me because I live in the rural area and we don’t have a large variety of foods here in our local grocery stores.

This is THE book to get if you are starting or have been on a ketogenic diet. It's really well done. Beautiful illustrations, a very thorough and comprehensive guide to every aspect of keto you can think of, and also great recipes (all dairy free with the option of subbing in dairy). Even if it had no recipes, I would still highly recommend it. From types of fats/oils, to how to make nut milks, to different types of keto, to what to expect from side effects, etc. Just incredible. I bought another popular book on keto but it pales in comparison.

This cookbook is family friendly, filled with recipes even the picky kids will enjoy a lot. Instructions are perfectly stepped and include detailed directions for every step of the cooking process. I'm so excited to see what this author is going to publish next because I've learned a lot from this cookbook. Unlike some other cookbooks, this one calls for normal ingredients which can be bought locally and this is one of the deciding factors when you love in a small country town.

I think this cookbook is the best ketogenic diet cookbook I've had in a fairly long time. I have already prepared several dishes and followed others just to see how realistic they are. Seems like the author knows his stuff and makes the food preparation process easy and fun for the whole family. I purchased the extra paperback copy of the book for my mother and will definitely continue to try out the recipes I picked primarily.

I'd recommend it to any person wishing to make a radical change for the better because the Keto diet is one of the best diets possible. It fills the body with energy and strength, serves as a clean and healthy fuel. I've been relieved of the stress of dieting thanks to the Keto diet because it's more of the lifestyle than of a diet. I think I've discovered a natural lifestyle that I can do for the rest of my days. Of course, I'll need more cookbooks as time goes by but this one is enough for now. You should learn to pay attention to what the body is saying and follow the chosen path.

Much of what Ms. Wright teaches, in such concise and unambiguous language, has been expanded and complicated by others today and over the years. Still, some of the finer points shared are here only. Her putting technique, with a break in the wrists, has been replaced as the greens improved and the speed greatly amplified. Otherwise you can build a game with this fine book alone. She is and was greatly admired as a golfer and as a person and surely as a communicator and story teller as this tidy instruction piece demonstrates. Oh what golf could do today with another unassuming and brilliant Mickey Wright.

The reason this book receives a high rating is not only was she a great player and had an outstanding swing she knew it so well she can explain in her words why it worked so well. Mr. Ben Hogan was quoted as saying Mickey Wright was the BEST golf swing he ever saw. Just looking at the pictures you can clearly see why he proclaimed it so.

Finally, a woman’s perspective on golf! This is generally an uncomplicated, step by step method. Good for beginners and others who need reminders of the basics.

One of the best golf swing books I have ever read and I own a bunch of these books, I wish there is a kindle version of this. The book has great illustrations and really helpful. It helped me a lot and I was able to shave some strokes off my game. I figured out the reason for my long problem of slicing, especially with longer irons. You do not have to slice as a right hander, this book can be very helpful in eliminating that slice problems.

It's not complicated, it's a simply golf swing , the book reminds me of the saying " keep it simple stupid". She doesn't tell you how to fix this or that , Mickey shows and tells you how to swing the wright way , just a one piece slow ,low ,wide swing back and a powerful motion forward . I loved the book and after reading I find myself standing taller over the ball and swinging harder with great results , I loved reading about her time on tour , but my main interest was the golf swing and nobody has a smoother swing than Mickey .
