This is a lovely little book, beautifully printed containing all the chief prayers, meditations, psalms, and creeds of the Catholic Church in the original Latin and English. I took off one star because I was not completely happy with the physical quality of the book. It is small (about 4 inches by six inches and about half an inch thick) and seems rather flimsy for a 20 dollar book. While the cover is glossy and black with shiny gold printing it is basically a paperback with the pages glued, not sewn in. I'm glad to own the book since I am interested in Ecclesiastical Latin but I do think it is somewhat over priced
I used to pray the Divine Office and it never quite fit me. Yet this version of the Little Office ofMary is amazing. First of all, the language hasn't been modernized to the point of strippingaway its beauty. Also, there are antiphons from the Byzantine liturgy which are amazing.From the Offices of Mary I have seen, this version is the one I like the best.
I've prayed using this everyday since I received it. It is for personal devotion and includes in one concise volume so many of the beautiful prayers and praises to Our Blessed Virgin Mary, including the Litany of the Blessed Virgin and the Litany of the Sacred Heart. Easy to follow because it's all in English and sections are well defined due to the spacing and layout of each page. If you have always wanted to start praying this wonderful Office but wasn't sure how to start, I recommend getting this volume - its affordable and you will love it! You can always upgrade to a more expensive version with nihil obstat and imprimatur - this copy gets you started if you are a newbie such as myself.
I received my copy from Angelus Press and I'm very glad I purchased this. The font is wonderful and not hard on the eyes(I've owned the Baronius Press version for a long time and as much as I adore it the font gets harder to read as the years pass), they layout is VERY easy to follow (it's laid out exactly like their Officium Divinum). I would have given it 5 stars, but the only thing that stopped me were the 2 things I'd like to see them do first. 1) Sew the pages instead of gluing and 2) include the commemorations of St Joseph and the other saints. If the pages were sewn instead of glued and the commemorations were there this would be a 5 star review. And Angelus press, if you're reading this, myself and many others would gladly pay $30 for your Little Office with the Office of the Dead AND the commemorations in a book this size with a sewn binding to make it more durable and last longer. But, I have always supported the SSPX and Angelus Press and will continue to do so and this is just one more in a long line of great products from them.
As mentioned by another reviewer, the price is a little steep for the quality of the book itself. However, I've often spent ten times as much for text books based on their content and not the quality of the book.This book seems to require some outside information to make it fully useful. Properly praying the Little Office with this book alone will be difficult. A little research and some guidance from others further along the path than I am will be necessary for me. It's a journey I'm excited to be on and happy to have this book to help out.
Wonderful daily liturgy of the hours containing morning and evening prayers structured similar to the The Liturgy of the Hours, but not as comprehensive. It also contains Office Prayers, Daytime Prayers, and Night Prayer. It is smaller and easier to carry than the Liturgy of Prayers, and is great for lay people to take anywhere, or use daily as a way to gain further understanding and appreciation of the Blessed Mother, as well as the grace received from participating in and contemplating on her as well as the psalms and hymns that are included in the Office.
I have both the paperback and Kindle version of this wonderful book of prayers. It's part of my daily life as a Catholic yearning for a deeper, more meaningful relationship with God. This book has prayers meant for each day of the week. The prayers are beautiful and poetic as most are from the book of Psalms and from chosen prayers of the Holy Saints.
I was hoping for the Latin/English version, which gives all the times of day for prayers. This one is not comprehensive enough for for thos e wanting to spend the 7 prayers times with the Lord.
